Director of The Southwest Utah Public Health Department and Health Officer
David W. Blodgett graduated from SUU in 1993 with a BA in Zoology/Chemistry, and then the University of Utah Medical School in 1999. Dr. Blodgett completed clinical residency training at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY, a Columbia University affiliate, and the Preventive Medicine Residency at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, where he was Chief Resident. After residency, he worked at the Johns Hopkins Center for Public Health Preparedness, and at the Anne Arundel County Department of Health over their Emergency Preparedness and Chronic Disease prevention divisions. He is currently the Health Officer for the Southwest Utah Public Health Department, overseeing the health of 225,000 people in the five county area, a position he has held since 2005.
Deputy Health Officer
Gary serves as the Deputy Health Officer and oversees the daily operations of two Divisions of the Public Health Department – Nursing and Environmental Health. He spends his free time playing golf on the beautiful courses around St. George, hiking and biking the numerous trails in southern Utah, and spending time with family and friends.
Deputy Health Officer
Cameron serves as Deputy Health Officer and oversees daily operations for the Health Promotions and Emergency Preparedness & Response Divisions of the Health Department; as well as coordination of the Business and Information Technology aspects. He likes to spend any free time playing golf, being outdoors, and especially experiencing various adventures and excursions with his family and friends.
Jeff supervises all things finance and budget. He is also the publisher and assistant editor of HEALTH, the magazine of the Southwest Utah Public Health Foundation. Jeff enjoys gardening and spending time with his family.
Human Resources Director
Brandon oversees human resources and enjoys working with the health department’s AWESOME employees. He loves to work hard and laugh harder. Brandon can be found with his family at a camp out, on a boat, riding a bike, or just sitting down at the splash pad with his wife, both wishing their kids would refrain from drinking the fountain water.
Public Information Officer
David handles public and media relations for the health department; along with oversight of publications, website, and social media. He is the managing editor of HEALTH, the magazine of the Southwest Utah Public Health Foundation. David enjoys public speaking, photography, and exploring southwest Utah with his family.
Director of Health Promotions
Kye focuses on preventing tobacco use and injury and encouraging residents to be physically active and eat healthy. He enjoys mountain biking, camping, and playing sports with his wife and 5 children.

Paulette’s responsibility is to plan and prepare for how public health works with government and private organizations to operate together, creating key values and shared vision while using these principles to guide actions, promoting team and organizational learning before, during, and after a disaster or emergency. Paulette is a hiker, reader, singer, but her best title is that of Grandma.
Diabetes Prevention Program Coordinator
Jeff provides education and resources to help prevent type 2 diabetes. He enjoys fly fishing, snow skiing, and working in the yard with his family.
Lorenza is the Kiphs Administrator; she bills insurances for services we provide, does daily deposits, creates purchase orders, and reconciles bank statements. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family traveling, camping, and any outdoor activities.
Ashley manages our Social Media accounts, develops and manages our website, and creates videos and promotional materials. When she isn’t at the Health Department, she enjoys hiking in Zion with her husband and playing with her fur child, a Yorkie named Peyton.
Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable
Marlene handles all of our Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and assists our Human Resources Director as needed. She enjoys spending time with her family and adorable grandchildren.
