Free Car Seat Safety Checks
KANAB, UT – The Southwest Utah Public Health Department (SWUPHD) is now offering free child car seat safety checks and installations for parents and caregivers in Kane County.
“This check is essential for anyone who transports children in their vehicles”, says Delaney Matheson, SWUPHD Child Passenger Safety Technician. “70-90% of car seats are installed incorrectly. Since motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death of children in the United States, this service can really make a difference.”
According to Safe Kids USA, young children properly restrained in child safety seats have an 80 percent lower risk of fatal injury than those who are unrestrained. Whether you’re a first time parent or one with more experience, getting your car seats and booster seats checked will eliminate mistake and familiarize you with passenger safety, car seat laws, and how children should progress in car seats as they get older. Discounted seats are also available for purchase.
Car seat checks and installations are available by appointment. Contact Delaney Matheson at 435-644-2537 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
