You’re invited!

The Southwest Utah Public Health Department is pleased to offer 3 new opportunities for health education to help you develop healthier habits and to become a healthier YOU.

Online Course

The online course will help you take important steps to a healthier lifestyle. It is a self-paced course, and each step takes about 15 minutes to complete.

This course outlines 10 simple steps to help you reach your healthier YOU goals. The steps are accompanied by short readings, engaging videos, and action steps. In addition, the course offers support from the course instructor and a registered dietitian.

As an incentive, after completing the course you will be eligible for a free A1C test or a home blood pressure monitor. The A1C test involves a simple finger prick. You will get your results within a few minutes, placing you in the range of normal, prediabetic, or diabetic. To receive a free A1C test or home blood pressure monitor you must be at least 18 years old and a resident of Washington, Iron, Kane, Garfield, or Beaver County.

El curso de internet lo ayudará a dar pasos importantes hacia un estilo de vida más saludable. Es un curso a su propio ritmo, y cada paso tarda unos 15 minutos en completarse.

These classes will be fun and interactive to help you reach your healthier YOU goals. Each class will provide a safe and encouraging place to learn, share, and discuss topics that will help you take important steps to a healthier lifestyle. A different topic will be covered each week. A special emphasis is placed on weight loss and diabetes and heart disease prevention.

In-Person Classes – St. George

These classes are for anyone who wants to start taking steps to a healthier lifestyle. You are invited to attend 1 class or any of the 8 classes. The classes will be fun and interactive in a small group setting. Classes will provide a safe and encouraging place to learn topics that will help you take important steps to a healthier lifestyle. It will involve easy to follow education material, discussions, activities, sharing, and action steps.

A special emphasis is placed on weight loss, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke prevention. The classes are based on simple proven methods to a healthier lifestyle.

Classes will be taught by a certified lifestyle coach and a registered dietitian.

You will get their results within a few minutes, placing you in the range of normal, prediabetic, or diabetic. For the free A1C you must be at least 18 years old and a resident of Washington, Iron, Kane, Garfield, or Beaver County.

Community Forum

Please join us for a free community forum on diabetes and prediabetes. Each month we will invite local experts to our forum to present and answer your questions regarding diabetes care and prevention. 

Our March 12, 2020 forum will discuss ways to stay motivated to reach your health goals with Mallory Spendlove, MDA, RDN, CD.
