The Southwest Utah Public Health Department is pleased to offer 3 new opportunities for health education to help you develop healthier habits and to become a healthier YOU.

Online Course – clase de español próximamente

The online course will help you take important steps to a healthier lifestyle. It is a self-paced course, and each step takes about 15 minutes to complete.

This course outlines 10 simple steps to help you reach your healthier YOU goals. The steps are accompanied by short readings, engaging videos, and action steps. In addition, the course offers support from the course instructor and a registered dietitian.

After completing the course you will be eligible for a free A1C test. The A1C test involves a simple finger prick. You will get your results within a few minutes, placing you in the range of normal, prediabetic, or diabetic. You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of Washington, Iron, Kane, Garfield, or Beaver County.

In-Person Classes – Kanab

After attending at least 6 classes you will be eligible for a free A1C test. The A1C test involves a simple finger prick. You will get their results within a few minutes, placing you in the range of normal, prediabetic, or diabetic. For the free A1C you must be at least 18 years old and a resident of Washington, Iron, Kane, Garfield, or Beaver County.

These classes will be fun and interactive to help you reach your healthier YOU goals. Each class will provide a safe and encouraging place to learn, share, and discuss topics that will help you take important steps to a healthier lifestyle. A different topic will be covered each week. A special emphasis is placed on weight loss and diabetes and heart disease prevention.

Schedule: Tuesdays, September 3rd to October 22nd at 1:00 – 1:50 PM

These classes will be fun and interactive to help you reach your healthier YOU goals. Each class will provide a safe and encouraging place to learn, share, and discuss topics that will help you take important steps to a healthier lifestyle. A different topic will be covered each week. Community Forum

Please join us for a free community forum on diabetes and prediabetes. Each month we will invite local experts to our forum to present and answer your questions regarding diabetes care and prevention. 

During the October forum, Carolyn Krenkel, APRN, FNP-BC, MSN from Diabetes & Wound Care Clinic of St George will be discussing the psychology of change and how to successfully make lifestyle changes and stay motivated to prevent or manage type 2 diabetes.
