CAR SEAT SAFETY
Is your car seat safe? Did you know that only 40% of car seats are installed correctly? At the Southwest Utah Public Health Department, we have trained and certified Car Seat Technicians (CPS) that provide free car seat safety checks for all of our Southern Utah residents. In addition, we have a free Car Seat Program to help families that qualify.
What happens at a car seat appointment? During the appointment (plan on 30-45 minutes), a CPS Technician will fill out a car seat check form to first review if the car seat selection is appropriate for your child’s age, weight and height. They will also help ensure that an appropriate seating position in the vehicle is being used and help guide you through the insallation process and how to use different techniques. The technician will also check car seat for recalls, visible damage and an expiration date.
